How do you make a horn nosecap

I have a Hatifeld rifle that I would like to dress up a bit with a horn nosecap.  I have seen them but have no idea how they are made or what kind of horn to use. 
Cow horn?  Buffalo horn?  Some other kind of horn?  How do you make it and how is it attached?
