An early Northhampton rifle with Christian Springs features and simple carving. Pretty typical C-Springs buttplate about 2 in. wide modified into a sheath type. Single set trigger. Rice premium D wt., 58 cal., 38 in. long.

Hi Bill,
As usual, a beautiful, clean gun.  You certainly are a master of many styles and schools.  It speaks to spending many years looking at antique originals. It looks like it should be with Washington's men outside of Boston.  From whom did you get the trigger guard?

Simply perfect!  I think you've really caught the early Christian Springs flavour in a killer of a rifle.

And speaking of a killer, when I first saw the rifle, I was thinking it might be a face pounder, but on further study, I see that the drop at the comb is about 1 1/2" which will make for a fine hunting rifle.  With style!!!  Congratulations, Bill!!

Your patchbox is long and graceful. Wonderful. This rifle is an example of why I like incise carving so much, especially when done so masterfully.

Good looking gun Bill.  I especially like the long slender box lid and how it fits with the stock architecture.

I have an original that has the same wonderful architecture, except that it has the typical two piece brass box.   If I remember correctly the bore in that gun is around 58 cal.   You seem to have achieved all the right feel and look, good work!   Will we see it at Lewisburg??

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Dave, the T.G. is that  early Jack Hough that Reeves Goering sells with the double grip spur. Heavily bent and restyled with the double spur removed.
Don, the drop, as Taylor noted, is actually very small. The sweep at the bottom just gives the allusion of it.
Should have it at Lewisburg.
