Philip Sheetz/Shatz Rifle
« on: March 29, 2017, 01:30:33 AM »
I've been looking at the Philip Shatz signed rifle illustrated right at the end of this article (photo 16) by Wallace Gusler: http://americansocietyofarmscollectors.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Early-rifles-of-the-Shenandoah-Valley-B074_Gusler.pdf

Any idea where I might find more info on this one? It reminds me, somehow, of both the Cellar rifle and the early rifle attributed to Conrad Humble I looked at last spring. Don't know if there is any connection beyond a common ancestry in the German rifles, though.

I'd never seen that one.  Great early architecture!

That is a great article also, lots of early rifles, a good one to save for reference.
