Screw Tip Horn
« on: December 13, 2010, 06:52:43 PM »
This one is about 15” around the outside curve. The Walnut base is about 2 ½”, it is hollowed out and held in place with 4 steel pins. The collar is horn and is pinned to the neck with 3 steel pins.  It has the threads for the tip cut into it, the threads are 1/2-13.  It is after the bottom horn on page 67 of Grant’s Powder Horns and Their Architecture.

Very nice horn, Tim. I really like the coloring and look of it.

The internal thread tip is great. Those are a pain to do well.

Nice job,

Jeff

Very nice Berks County horn, great color and nicely turned cap.

Tim, I like the way the horn lines are carried up into the plug.  I also agree with Jeff on the tips. Yours is very well done.
