Prickett, Franklin (1823-). gunsmith & farmer. West Richfield, Summit County. The Prickett family are prominent citizens and extensive landowners in Richfield Twp., and are worthy of especial mention. Franklin was a son of Samuel and Hannah Allen Prickett, born in NJ in 1823. He remained with his parents until he was married, on January 9, 1850, to Sarah Fearnley. After his marriage, he built him a house upon the farm where he now resides, which consists of 70 acres of land, which was a part of the old homestead. Although he calls himself a farmer, he has devoted a great share of his time to making rifles and general repairing. He is a natural mechanic, having never learned the machinist's trade. He was the first gunsmith in the township, and has made hundreds of rifles with tools which he manufactured mostly himself, and in his workshop may be found many evidences of his skill. They have two children. 1860, Franklin Pritchett, farmer, 37, born in NJ; Sarah, 36, born in England; Alice, 1, born in OH. His first wife died, leaving a daughter, Alice. In June, 1866, he was married to a second wife, Arvilla, a daughter of Herman and Polly Buck. 1870, Franklin Prickett, gunsmith, 46, born in NJ, $6000 land, $4000 personal value; Arvilla, 44; Alice, 10; Frances, 3, all born in OH. 1900, Park S.
