2011 NMLRA Gunsmithing Seminar
« on: December 13, 2010, 04:51:46 AM »
The article including the class list and registration information for next summer's seminar at Western Kentucky has been posted on the NMLRA web site. This will be the 30th anniversary of the seminar and the article includes a couple of old photos from the early years.

I saw that Ron Scott is going to teach a 9-day class on making a fine holster pistol. Please, could someone post pictures of the pistols they are going to copy? I'd really love to see the 13"barrel with a machined rib.

Best regards

Rolf

Rolfkt, you can PM Ron Scott. Do a member search, and click on his profile.

You don't suppose they would consider holding one in Bagram Afghanistan do you?  I guess I'll have to wait a couple of years...

Acer, thanks for the tip. I've sent Ron a PM.

Squirrelheart, what course did you sign up for?

Best regards

Rolfkt,

My first choice was the Indian Trade Gun by Jack Brooks, primarily because it included hand in-letting of the barrel and drilling the ramrod hole.  Second choice was the Mark Silver class on Stock Architecture, Shaping and Inletting.  I have his video on this subject and it is quite good.  I would love to take both if I could.

Just an update on registration:

The class by Mark Silver on period stock shaping and archetecture is full but there will be a waiting list for the next 2 or 3 people who register. That way if someone has to drop out the next in line moves up.

Ron Scott's class on the fine European holster pistol is almost full (only 1 space was available two weeks ago) but it will also have a waiting list if you are interested.
