I tend to agree with you on the W L
William Lloyd or William Lemly are shown on KRA Assoc
website as makers.  Perhaps it's one of their works.

Gun looks like Snyder County to me, and initials would indicate probably William Laudenslager.   Was hoping Mark would
chime in here....................Don

Suzkat,

In my opinion, you have a nice example of a rifle made by gunsmith Wilhelm "William" Laudenslager.  He worked Union / Snyder County, PA, and later in Wyandot County, OH.  Thank you for sharing photos of your rifle.

Definitely Upper Susquehanna and I defer to Mark on the Laudenslager attribution if he has pictures or access to comparable pieces, but William Long could be a possibility, as well, in my opinion.  It looks like nice, but I would suspect that it should be percussion based on the later features and single screw.  Still a very nice rifle!

My attribution is based on my familiarity with several other Laudenslager rifles.  This rifle appears to have features seen on rifles signed or attributed to William Laudenslager, Samuel Laudenslager (William's older brother), John Laudenslager (William's cousin), J. G. Ulrich (another cousin), and S. H. St. Clair (an uncle that they all may have apprenticed under).  However, I can't 100% rule out William Long as a possible maker.  I've not seen enough signed rifles made by William Long to know for sure.  I have to agree with Spotz regarding the flintlock.  It was likely originally made a caplock percussion gun and converted to flintlock.  It's impossible to tell for sure with photos alone.  There are plenty of late single-bolt original flintlock guns around.  Thanks again for posting the photos.

Teriffic Muzzy. I noticed that the lock has only one anchor screw. I know this is not common but what period in time would this suggest if any and would this be a trade mark of a specific maker or School. Any info would be appricated.
