I built my first long gun in 1980 with a douglas XX, Cut 2 1/8" inches off to make it a 42"
But being a newbe i put the stamping on the left side second flat. Then learned about run out when sighting the gun in. But i only had to offsite the sights a tad to make it shoot a 1/4" group at 50 yards of a bench.
If you are thinking that you may not use it i would buy it off you.

Thanks for all the input, I'm going to build this rifle with the Doug barrel. I've had it since 1968 or so and it just wouldn't  be right not to use it after all these years. I have a walnut stock blank that has nice figure but I ordered a maple stock from TOW and when it gets here the build starts. Wish me luck. Frank
