Sheet metal instead of a casting.

Looks better than the cast plate that I used on my current project.   Nice job!   What thickness of stock did you start with?

Tom,
I like the looks of that. I feel like the Bivins butt plate is too thick when compaired to the Originals I have seen. I had a Iron one that weighed about two pounds it seemed. How did you form it?

Maybe I misrepresented myself on this, but this is the Bivins small Lancaster BP.

I started out by eliminating some of the curvature and then proceeded to make it up, after I was happy with the fit I drilled and countersunk the holes.

Scary Part...

I then took a 4" handheld grinder and started removing everything that didn't look like a slim BP, I then took a half round file and evened it up and finished with drawfiling to make it like I thought I seen in the books.

Thanks a bunch both of you for your input, and I feel you are correct Dave as most of the castings are to fat.

Tom,
It was looking very familiar :-\, I like the way you have modified it.
It is one of my favorite sets of hardware but the thickness of the butt plate has always bugged me.

My mentor has a saying that relates.

Nothing Is Sacred...

I have since rolled over the point and it is now rounded.
