German Silver Rod Stock
« on: October 08, 2008, 07:53:37 PM »
I'm looking for small German silver nails or round stock that I can make nails from. I want it to hold a thumb pieces in on my long rifle. The thumb piece is German sliver and if I put a nail in, counter sink it and file it out correctly it should be hard to see.
Any Ideas as to where I can buy some of this

Thanks,
Jeff

Just  use fine silver or coin silver. Unless you have a very late rifle German Silver is not really correct anyway.
I pound out 1 ounce rounds to the thickness needed then cut off "nails" with tin snips.

Jeff...... the easiest way to do this...take a tin snips and cut a thin sliver from a piece of the same material.  I then peen
it round and to a point, use this as a nail for that inlay.   It only has to go into the wood about 1/8".....Don
