Barrel proofed
« on: January 31, 2011, 12:06:14 AM »
Beautiful winter day, so I took my .69 caliber, rifled, barrel out for testing. 230 grains of 2f and two tightly patched balls. The before and after measurements were exactly the same. I have to admit, I wasn't sure if I had made a pipe bomb or was proving a barrel, but amid the smoke and fire, it emerged unscathed, and I am a happy man. The sled shown traveled a little over six feet. The ground is well frozen, but I was able to retrieve one of the balls, the first loaded, it, or they, had blown out a pretty healthy chunk of the frozen berm. Love this stuff ;D!!
