Lacing on hunting bag

I have a hunting bag I made and it is tooled and laced. I know lacing and tooling were around long before the muzzleloading rifle but wonder how accurate it is in the early and mid 1800's? Thanks All, Frank

Well...I think on typical American hunting bags its kinda rare...but definitely not non-existant...lots of documented tooled examples exist, and I would have to guess that lots of laced ones do too, though lacing seems to be much less documented at this point.

can you post a photo of what you have made? I guess the technique and tooling style you incorporated will have more to say about it being truly representative of a mid 19th century laced and tooled pouch than the mere fact that you used tooling and lacing...hope that helps clarify it some anyhow...

I'll try and figure out how to post a photo this weekend. Frank
