New Bag
« on: January 03, 2011, 04:44:43 AM »
First post here on accoutrements. Sure have enjoyed seeing all the fine work desplayed here. I've dabbled in bag making for folks in my area, since the late 1970's. When a good friend asked for one to compliment his squirrel rifle, sewing it up got me going again.
Here's another I finished last week for myself. Something I seldom get around to.  ;D  First time I've made a double pouch. Horn is one made about 1981.

Let me know how I'm doing, It's been a while. Any critique is appreciated.
Thanks for looking

Don,
Horn and bag are great--really like the powder measure--can we get a closeup?  Thanks!

Heres a photo of the powder measure ;made of a horn tip. It holds 60gr. and was on another bag used with a .45 flint rifle. the flat prime horn is part of the set.

Thanks for your kind words everyone!

Don,
I really like the small detail work around the neck of the priming horn

Frank;
The leather was purchased at Friendship quite a few years back. Believe it is cow. Dealer said it was in a batch of leather that had gotten wet ??, if I recall . finish is coarser than oak tan.

Bought 4-5 sides very cheap. Pre-dyed about .080" thick dark brown.
It softens real nice with a bit of mink oil. tough pushing an awl through more  than two layers at a time.  :-\  trim is deer dyed medium brown.
Thanks ,Don
