Made first visit to the NRA Museum this morning. For anyone who has not
been there, it is well worth the trip. Virtually every gun used in America and
many from elsewhere are represented there. My time was limited, but I could
have spent a full day there. The exhibit spans from very early guns to modern
day arms.
In the KY rifle exhibit, there were many nice examples from different areas
of Pennsylvania and elsewhere. There were 2 rifling benches and what appeared to be an
original gunsmiths workbench. Many tools and accountrements as well.
My only disappointment was that there were virtually no examples of the
percussion era Western Pennsylvania rifle. I hope to remedy that one day by
placing a Shreckengost rifle there. Hopefully the curator will see fit.
