A Pair of Little Salt Horns.. plus two more!
« on: April 30, 2011, 05:02:04 AM »
Some time ago I had a few horns that were not big enough to do much with except cut up for other projects, but they were thin right to the tip.  So I made up this pair of (nearly) matched, black, salt horns with turned ebony base plugs and ebony spout plugs.  Fun to make.  The cascabels screw out for filling.

Dave.........you must get busy on a gun, you have far too much time on your hands to produce these neat little do-dads,
You continue to amaze us with your neat little stuff............Don

Don said just what I was thinking, time for a gun. You must have something in the works, HA HA!
If gas was cheaper I'd drive up there and inspire you!

Times have sure changed. Gun control used to mean keeping the muzzle pointed in a safe direction

Tim,  Thanks but these are not up to your horn work (which I admire each time you post something.)

Don, Cal Kid;  I have 5 rifles and 4 pistols in various stages of completion.  In addition, I am helping two friends build rifles and a blunderbuss, and a neighbor boy build a pistol.  On top of that, I am engraving the brass and reworking the stock on my fourth Thompson Center Seneca (just for practice).  I have more projects than I know what to do with and I blame this board for not having finished the pistols and rifles yet.  Every time I get close to finishing one, I see something done better by one of you guys and I have to do something over again.

And while we are talking about "little do-dads", here are two more salt horns.  These are scraped very thin so you can see how much salt you have left.
