King George era Horn, Geometric designs
« on: May 26, 2011, 07:35:41 PM »
Found in Northern Maine in a Villiage close to the Saint Lawrence River.
It has the early Lobe with one hole, it is unsigned.

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Neat horn. Do you think it can it be provenanced to America? The horn it self has the characteristic look of some European horns...the incised design looks to be very well done...is there any name etc on it?
Thanks much for posting,

Very unusual for an early horn to be so thick.  The edge at the plug is super thick and does not look like it has any wear.  Very interesting and apparently pristine scrim.  Is it filled with wax or what makes it white?
