"Coned" barrels and cutting patch at Muzzle...?

When I had a coned barrel,I used precuts and a "verboten" short starter. Ya, I could thumb start the ball in the muzzle, but had less damage to the ball by gently pushing the ball past the cone with the starter. Never had a ripped patch using this technique and this rifle shot as good as any non coned gun. <snip>

I've made two or three Jaeger rifles and they have a round end on each grove so that the muzzle looks odd shaped,it's hard to explain I have no clue why they did that Could that be some sort of coneing? I conture mine like that but just cause they did it,they shoot just fine like that.

Called a Hiney'd muzzle in the US- or is it hinied, or hinie'd or hiny'd?
