Banded Horn W/Screw Tip-W/Pics Of Original
« on: April 29, 2011, 03:01:45 PM »
The original of this horn has the bands missing but you can see the shadows were they were. If you look close you will see a shadow just below the tip, this is probably from the strap. This horn is important, at least I think so, because it had bands and a screw tip. Also the shape of the base and it  having a nail for the strap, of course this could have been done later in life, kind of looks like it was smoothed out but if it was it was fairly well done. The first three pics are of the original
This horn is very close in size to the original. It is about 17 1/4” around the outside curve. The base is about
2 ½” and is held in with 6 steel pins. The tip is antler and is about 2¾ X 1. The bands are held on with 3 steel pins each.

Very nice indeed! Also note again that the original is an antler screw tip banded horn. I think thats a pretty rare animal?

I'm having trouble getting all the pictures to open up but I really like the horn you made. So far I can't see enough of the original to make any decisions or statements.
