I am sighting in a new schimmel rifle and the point of impact is to the left of the bullseye, what direction do you tap the front sight to move the point of impact to the right?

Move it to the left...opposite from the direction you want to move the POI

( rear sight is moved in the same direction you want to move the POI )

Most folks leave the front sight centered and move the rear. It is much less noticable.

I had a rifle once where I moved both as it was much less noticible than moving the rear sight way over.  The front sight is moved the direction of impact, the rear to the direction you want the impact to move.

If a large correction is required move both front and rear.  Move the rear in the direction you want the point of impact to move and the front toward the old point of impact.

HUH  ???  Three   ???

Put the rifle between your legs upside down. Then tap the front sight the direction you want the bullet to go.  So simple!  ;D

Well I went out today and sighted my shimmel rifle and only needed minimal movement of the rear sight to hit dead center.  Thanks to all who posted there info.
