Thanks for posting.  You always come up with some neat pieces.  This is definitely "superb curl", one might say extremely superb curl.

It is indeed a super piece of wood, but what about the rifle? Builder, caliber, barrel, sights etc.

Built 1982- 44 inch Douglas Barrel- 50 cal.- Front sight, Large International Redfield- Rear sight- International Redfield with custom made mounting bracket.  Maker S. Boyleston.

That really is a fantastic piece of wood!  Wow!  I agree with Don, what a "Kentucky" that would have made.  Nothing against what it is, but I can visualize that wood on a Lehigh!   :o

It's profile and lines are giving me ideas - if I can get Taylor to carve to shape the butt area and inlet all the parts, I could build one just like it, but with less expensive wood, of course. ;)  yeah - I know, it's a modern-ish bench gun.  The wood helps to overcome the square forend. That's the part I'd have no trouble building- I'm THAT good.  Interesting, the stock being screwed onto the barrel.  That would certainly solve bedding and make glass bedding easier - somewhat. Oh course, expansion would have to be taken into consideration.
