Chris Hirsch...........now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.  Glad to see you still have an interest in these crazy
guns.   I quit making barrels about 14 years ago and have cranked out over 60 guns since then.   I would like to tell you

Hello Don!  Nice to hear from you.  I am not building rifles much anymore.  When the muzzleloading fad died down in Texas I started restoring Colt Single Actions for a sideline and it took over right away.  I still have hundreds of board feet of hard maple and 'tons' of locks, barrels, and parts for building.  I repair and restore all types of antique guns now and I'm so busy that I have to hide from everyone.  I still have three unfinished longrifles waiting to be completed.  I also have numerous antique projects of my own that I barely have time for.  I have decided that I am going to work on one of my gun projects (mainly longrifles) while working on customers guns.  That way I might be able to get most of them done before I am gone.  But, I am still picking up new additions all the time.

My book got published, The Texas Gun Trade, 1780-1899.  25 years of research on the thing.  I am happy it is done.  Mowbray Publishing published it.
