this is my first try at a scrimshawed horn do i have to put something on it to seal and protect it ? constructive critism welcomedalso first time posting a picture so i hope it works

First Try??!!   Well...BRAVO!!  That is really nice scrim for a first try.  As for sealing, you can use beeswax buffed to a nice sheen or a good paste wax.  Both will need refurbised over time after exposure to the elements.

 I'm with Ahtuwisae. Nice design on the engraling, proportionately it looks to me like it could be moved down the horn a bit, maybe to the top of the oval. Look forward to seeing the next one.

Looks good to me in location and exceution. I wasn't aware that any 'sealing' of any kind had to be done.  you could rub it with wax, I guess - worth the effort? Now, it needs some patina - from use.

Brian:  While at Dixon's be sure to go by the HCH Table.  And Look me up.  I'll be the biggole guy scraping on a horn at Jeff Bibb's table.
