Plow Spring Tomahawk

I forged this hawk out of some 1 inch square spring steel. The steel is from an early steel wheel rip plow. It is the spring that the plow point bolts to. I antiqued the head with Birchwood Caseys Plum brown then used scotch brite to remove some of the browning. The handle is curly maple stained with Track of the Wolf's agua fortis. I finished it tung oil and then waxed.

Willis, did you harden the thing after you finnished cleaning her up? Made from spring like that she might have been hard enough for the use in hand. Nice looking ax by the way. Smylee

Really nice!
I like the finish on the steel and the curvature on the spike is nice and smooth. Blade width is perfect too!
Where do you get your handles from?
Best regards,

Stuart; The spike shape is outstanding, (stay with that shape) great finish on the wood. Overall a very fine job. Should like nice in your belt, or mine. Turkeyfooter
