Breech plugs for Le Paige pistols from Blackley.
« on: August 23, 2011, 10:45:00 PM »
I got the breech plugs today. The standing breech is cast separate from the the plugs. Plugs are cast solid and will require a bit of machining.
Still waiting for the locks. I've ordered barrels from Rayl today. Strait octagon, 7/8", caliber 0.40 . Hope to start on this project  fall next year.

Yeah Rolf,
Those are going to take a bit of machining!  :D
But I'll bet it'll go a lot quicker than it looks.

JvR,

All the castings from Blackley are from  EN3b mild steel and I have been told does not have to be anealed. It has less than 0.25% carbon. I'll post pictures of the lock kit when I get them.

Rolf; This project looks like a great fun build. I would like to attempt to build off this breech plug assembly. How do I and where do I find the parts. I would like to see your choice of locks. Waiting for future information and pictures. Thanks, AJ

Alyce -james,
Here is a link to Blackleys website http://www.blackleyandson.com/ .  He has tons of great stuff than isn't posted on the website. If there is something you are looking for, email them a request. They cast the parts themselves and don't keep any on stock. Figure about 6 months delivery time. They use lost wax casting.

The parts I've ordered are not on the website. If you want the same parts I ordered , just ask for the Le Paige style parts Rolf bought. He will know what they are.  There is alot of engraving on the parts. I had him fill it in on the parts cast for me. The engraving is beautiful , but it was impossible to clean up the parts without destroying half of it. I'll post pictures of the lock kits when I get them.

Best regards
Rolf
