I heard that the square balls were for Heathen and the Round for Christian because spherical balls were perfect and therefore  Godlike. This was Science from back when teaching ballistics was considered heretical, like sailing into the wind, finding fossils older than Creation or other such disquieting ideas. BTW spherical objects only moved in straight lines so no need for complicated sights.

round ball has some what of arc to it but so does any bullet

square bullet/shot may have some thing going fo them winchester has a new steel shot out thats square for more dense patterns witch im going to try with lead one of these days

I thought it was about 96 or 97 when Keith was presenting his two hole vents, he showed it at Dixon's. If I remember there was an article in "Muzzle Blasts" and someother people were talking about it. I'd forgotten about it until I saw this thread.
