Art, There was an article on Cornell Kemper in the Feb. 2005 issue of Muzzle Blasts. It was written by his son Marvin Kemper and about 5 pages long. It has quite a few pictures and a color picture of three of his rifles on the front cover. Mark Poley

THere's usually a display of his rifles at the CLA Show. Very contemporary late revival period I would say.

Art,

Cornell Kemper built guns from the early 50's thru the late 90's and raised 6 girls and one son Marvin building Longrifles! Cornell is one of the early builders of the Contemporary LR movement and most likely the most prolific builder of all time building over 3000 longrifles! He would have 5 or 6 guns in progress of being built like a mini assembly line , Marvin has gone on to be an excellent builder of early American longrifles! I am 58 years old today and first met Cornell when I was around 5 years old! I grew up within 60 miles of the Kemper home place and feel fortunate to be a friend of the Family and a personal friend of Marvin, Cornell passed just a few years ago and built longrifles not long before his death!

I went to high-school with Cornell's great-grandson.  I used to hang out on the old kemper farm.  My friend's dad had one of Cornell's rifles hanging up in the old farm house.  Cornell was also the first property mangager at the Ferdiand State Forest back in the 30's.  I worked there part-time as well.  Really Good family.  I was told they are garanteed accurate at 100 yards without adjustment.

Does anyone know how to get a hold of Marvin Kemper for questions? He is not listed in the phone book.
