« on: October 18, 2011, 05:55:19 PM »
......and it's a rifle, pretty much complete, in the white, still needs finish work (scraping, sanding, smoothing) and I think she needs a patchbox.  I'm having brain !@#$% and a difficult time comming upon ideas for a design.  You guys have any idea as to where I can look for some idea's?

Generally, what style rifle are you making?  With that bit of info, I'm sure you'll get plenty direction.   ;)

I like the sliding wood boxes and captured lid ones myself but depends on the rifle. What style? Got any pictures?

I was talking about two different styles: 1)sliding wooden lid 2)captured lid- a metal box where the outside surrounds the lid which is of the same metal normally. Although I guess you could call a sliding patch box that has a metal inlay surrounding it a captured lid as well

Gaeckle, Its hard to tell from the picture, tipped at an angle a bit can change a lot of perspective on a photograph. But it looks to me that you have a whole lot of wood to remove before planning your patch box. You need a little more than half of the barrel side flat exposed along the stock channel, and I would finesse the under side line of the gun down as much as I could, maybe a little more arch form the toe to trigger area.
