Compass

This post contains a correction to reflect the correct book from the bible that the passage on the compass comes from (Thank you Dave C.)  The passage is from Joshua, not Ephesians.

I picked up a compass or two from Erv Tschanz at the show in carlisle and decided to do one up for myself.  The button on top is also of cow horn.

The passage on the side in the third picture is, in part, from the book of Joshua (1 Then Joshua rose early in the morning; and they set out from Acacia Grove and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they crossed over. 2 So it was, after three days, that the officers went through the camp; 3 and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it. 4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go, for you have not passed this way before.")...I thought it very appropriate for a compass both in looking to the compass and the lord for direction should one find themselves in a situation of needing both for guidance.

This pic was taken prior to the aging process.

Overall height is 1 3/4 inches
1 1/2 inches across at the top and 2 1/4 inches across at the base
The horn section of the box is 1/2 inch tall.
