Lens shaped chisel question
« on: February 29, 2012, 08:34:10 PM »
I read a discussion recently regarding the use of "lens shaped" chisel/gouge for inletting.  I looked thru the pictures and came away thinking that the front of the blade was beveled and the back flat.  But, trying to replicate one, I am now thinking the blade is beveled on both the front and back.  Would someone please confirm this new suspicion?

Moderator, please move to tools if that is the more appropriate location.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

The chisel is beveled on both sides. The cross section looks like an eye. Here is a link to pictures of mine. They are the same on both sides.

Mitch,

Thanks for the quick reply.  I would also like to thank you for your posts on the CLA/ALR auction rifle.  Those have been a great help.  I used your drill stop for inletting my patch box to get the depth right.

Great stuff,
Steve
