WALNUT STOCK

Hi i am wondering what to be looking for when shooting my new stock.
I 'm  wondering where the problem areas aregonna be if there is any,
andmaybe some suggestions on keeping it from getting dirty.I thought
I would shoot it first before I stained the stock.Thanks in advance.
 This is my one so i'm not sher what to look for .

I always finish before I shoot. I've never tried staining a stock with black powder fouling on it.

Acer's right.  Finish the stock first.  One thing I love about walnut is that many times it doesn't need stain before oil finish.  After the stock is sanded smooth, you can wipe a wet rag over it to get an idea about how the stock will look with only an oil finish.
