Couple new pouches
« on: March 10, 2012, 06:49:11 PM »
Here are a couple new pouched I finished this week.  The first is derived from the one on Plate 11 in Madison Grant's book.  I was impatient and wouldn't wait to get fabric for the strap, so I used leather.  7" wide by 8 1/2 deep.  Cowhide stained with Fiebings dark brown, oiled, and polished.  Unlined.

The second is my first attempt at a hair-on flap.  The bag is cowhide, stained with Fiebings dark brown and oiled.  The flap is goatskin with a leather border and deerskin on the back of the flap and binding the edges.  I looked at several Jerry Rice and Ken Scott pouches for ideas, so thanks to them for the assist.

Lile both but love the second one.  That more formal style is harder to do, I'd imagine.  Looks like a ribbon winner to me!

Nice looking bags Larry. I like the second one, because it has a front pocket on it. Since I have been shooting a flintlock, a front pocket gives me a place to carry a flat priming horn in. It easier to access than a priming horn in the main bag compartment.
