Shreckengost Lumber
« on: April 09, 2012, 04:25:28 PM »
Here are a couple pictures of the Shreckengost Lumber operations in Putneyville.  The family cut the timber from the hillsides along the Mahoning Creek and floated it in rafts during the spring high waters to Pittsburgh during the 1800s when the area was thriving.  Likely why gunsmith William Shreckengost could always find nice tightly
curled hard maple for his stocks.

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Rob,

Great photos.  Always a treat to see photos from back then; a real plus given the family connection.  Thanks for posting.
