I've rebarreled more than one or two TCs over the years due to fiberglass rods.   I stay away from fiberglass like the plague. Wood is the way to go, but I also use Delrin at the range or when hunting.  Someone also makes a wooden rod with a steel core which ought to be great if not too heavy.  Expensive, though.  I have always wondered about breaking a wooden rod back in the mountains somewhere and shoving it through my hand or wrist.  For the same reason, I only use knives with guards in the back country.  One slip with a slick knife and you're bleeding with nerve damage.

Never underestimate the sheer destructive power of a minimally skilled, but highly motivated man with tools.

IMHO it is a waste of time trying to convince people that glass is abrasive.

Fiberglass rods are good for the barrel makers' business, anyway.

  Amen!
They look out of place on a nice gun too.The tapered hickory rod that is in my gun or rifle does a splendid job.
