Another new guy - I have a powder drum problem
« on: May 10, 2012, 10:14:41 PM »
Hello all, I was told about this site by my friend Skillman. What a great place to learn. I have been shooting bp since before the first Washington bp elk season. I have built 6 or 8 kits and precuts over the years. I am now working on a precut late Lancaster with a 13/16 barrel, 45 cal. and inletted for a large Siler lock. My problem is the powder drum is going to be very high on the side flat and bore if I drill it to fit the drum notch on the lock, and not sure how ignition will be. Can I put it in the center of the barrel flat and file down the bottom of the drum to fit the lock? Or maybe some on the lock and some on the drum? Thanks for looking. McClary

The notch in the lock can be filed down to fit the drum a bit, in effect, raising the lock.

Put the drum where it belongs and alter the cut in the lock to accomodate it..
