More Reference Material!
« on: May 11, 2012, 01:28:09 AM »
I was browsing the internet on the Kentucky Rifle Foundations website. They have for sale a CD called Kentucky Rifle Photographs 2005 Volume I, Issue I. Says its B&W photos of all the usual masters. Does anyone have it in their own library? Is it a worthy purchase or just more of the same photos in RCA?

I have the KRA President's Display 2010.  It's just awesome!!  Large, very clear color photos of amazing Lehigh guns.

Worth EVERY penny!

All of the CDs are great for obtaining stock shapes.  Print them enlarged (butt stocks on 11 X 17 or 13 X 19 paper) or project them onto paper and trace.

I have a copy of the disc, and it is simply fantastic.  The resolution is so good, that even enlarged many times larger than full scale, the rifles and pistols details is incredible.  I will add though, that my copy has a white paper sticker glued to the disc with the information about the contents etc., and my computer doesn't like it.  It causes the drive motor to overheat, and my CD driver shuts down, but this is after quite a long session.  So, what I did, was to drag all of the images to my desktop, and put them into files on my hard drive.  It took quite a long time, because I had to give the computer time to chill out before continuing.  But it was worth the effort.  The pictures are fantastic, and there are a lot of them.
Buy it!!

Vol I Iss II is excellent also. So is Vol I Iss IV.

I have the CD as well and IMHO you did well by ordering it.  Also you were inquiring about where to find a Bonewitz profile in an earlier post, you will find pics of a John Bonewitz rifle on your CD when it arrives  ;)

Got my CD's from the Kentucky Fifle Foundation, yesterday. I'm impressed. I think I can take thos images to the photo shop and use them to do profiles, useing a generic trigger pull or a buttplate length.
