Gobbler's new gun.

Most of the time I ship guns to their new owners, today i got to hand itto him.

Another Wellsville, KS school smooth rifle. The barrel came from one of his old guns, the stock was split from stem to stern. From the muzzle through the lock inlet and out the wrist, no way to save it.

Chambers Colonial lock, Reeves #10 guard and butt plate, store bought pipes, everything else made by hand. Stocked in maple and finished with Chambers oil.

Bent...........nice job.   I like what you did with the trigger, pretty neat.  I see you also have the sign of the "clan" on the
tang.    I assume it was done for a brother.   I did a gun for my lodge several years ago.   I did the square and compass
out of silver and inlet it into the stock, just in front of the trigger guard, looked pretty good there..........Don

Great work! I like it very much. I can't tell from the photos, is the barrel octagon-to-round? Would you mind sharing the technique you used to finish the lock and barrel. Thanks for posting.

Don, yep he's a Mason, high in the ranks and very active.

Satwel, the barrel is an old Colerain oct. to round that was already finished. Overly pitted for me. I just browned the lock and heated it in water til it started to turn dark. I didn't polish out all of the casting pits so it goes with the barrel.

No Harm, Not a lot of people would admit if they did    He teaches Jr/Sr high shop classes.

No wonder the lucky guy has a big smile on his face.  Anyone would be smiling to own such a nicely executed "smoothie".  Great work and thanks for giving up some of your secrets like darkening the lock.
