First match

I had a great time yesterday at my first match. Blanket match at the Log Cabin.  Many thanks to the 'cabin' for letting us use the range and to everyone that worked to put it together.

Oh man, if we had known it was your first match we'd have been a whole lot rougher on you, will have to remember that for next time... it was a lot of fun, wasn't it. We had a novelty shoot for people who have been in / or are signed up for the gun building classes, really good turnout considering it is a holiday weekend. We had sixteen registered shooters, and a handful of others who just came mostly to visit and only shot a little bit.
One of the high points of the day was the very first shot fired in the match - Karl Fisher split a playing card turned on edge with his new Jim Kibler rifle - then his buddy Gregg borrowed it for his first shot and did the same thing. Still trying to figure out how they cheated on that one..... just kidding, both those guys shot well all day.
I know a couple guys had been taking pictures, I'll see if we can't get some posted here

That shooting match was a real dandy.....kudo's to Ian Pratt as well as Dave Kutcher. The folks at the Log Cabin get a round of applause as well.

It has been a long number of years since I had such great fun and total relaxation..........this needs a repeat for sure!

I also enjoyed the match.  Great fun sighting in a new rifle.  It last outing was in an incredible downpour last fall.  Got the downpour the night before in Lodi while the rifle was still in the truck cab.  The Chambers large English lock performed perfectly, no hangs, no misfires and never changed the flint.  Filing on the sights between shots worked pretty well.  I do not think I would dry it in a different crowd from this one.
John talked me into trying Hoppes for a patch lube ala Daryl and Taylor.  All I can say is it worked.

Dave did a great job as range officer.  Ian did a ton of work getting it all together and the Log Cabin are great hosts.  I know why I give them a lot of my business
kind regards, heinz
