Schillenger lock

I just picked up a lock with this name on it and the date '79'.......great lock!!! Everything is polished and it is by far the nicest thing I've ever cycled.........

Does anybody have any info on this person?

Al Schillenger made these percussion locks from about 1975 to 1982 or 83.  At the time they were a bit pricey selling for about $60.  The geometry was OK and they did function smoothly.  A problem that was never addressed was that the mainspring was too weak in addition to a short tumbler arm and short link.

Al Schillinger made some nice locks for the Hawken rifles and MAYBE triggers too. $60 for a good quality lock made by anyone is or was a bargain but the American mind set is against that idea. I THINK Mr.Schilliger was a tool maker/machinist for the aircraft industry,maybe Boeing or Beechcraft, I know he passed away several years ago. I think I have a hammer for that caplock as well.
