A Couple Of Primers/Small Horns
« on: April 14, 2022, 10:21:27 PM »
The top one has a two piece Maple body pegged and glued together. The tip is horn held in by 3 wooden pegs, it is about 7 X 2 1/2 X 1. Finish is LO and bee's wax. The other has a horn tip held by three wooden pegs, the Pine base is held in by four wooden pegs and is about 7 X 2 X 1. Finish is Black paint rugged back then a coat of Brown dye also rubbed back and waxed.

Both nice horns.  Is the top one based on something historical?  I've never seen one like that.  Thanks for sharing.

Ken, I have never seen an original like it. I just took the shape from old shot pouches and added a long slender tip that would fit in the pan easier. Another "Outside the box" item.

Thanks Tim.  Either way I like it and will most likely steal your outside the box item idea!  Looks cool to me and would make a nice day horn.
