If you really want to have some fun mark the gun Slotter and Co. instead of Deringer. One, or more of the Slotterbek brothers( who worked for Deringer at one time) built Deringer pistols that were so good there are arguments going on today, in some collectors circles, and museums, over if the Deringer marked pistol they have is the real thing, or a Slotter copy. After the patent infringement trial in San Francisco, ( Deringer vs. Plate) Slotter at least had to quit marking his guns Deringer, and started marking them Slotter. Any Deringer with a Calif. dealers stamp on the barrel is definitely suspect.

Deringer in the white, and the stock stained. The Remington New Model Pocket cal 31 is there for size compare, and one GM barrel 12" cal 45 and two guns ;)

runastav, I always enjoy seeing your work in progress!!!! What is the inlay, ahead of the lock plate and under the bolster. ??? It wasn't in the photo's when you finished in-letting the lock Nice little pistol!! Thanks for the pictures, can't wait for your next project.

Typically a sterling support for the drum appears to me. Taylor put one on my Phil styled Derringer as well. 

Deringer was also well known for his long-guns and contract military guns along with longer barreled holster pistols.

Mark, I have just testshoot the pistol on ca 5m  loaded 20gr 3F  440" round ball and Ox-Yoke 015 patch. Test more when weather is more summer than Winter >:(

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread guys.

Runastav, I'm getting ready to do a build with the same parts set. I want to make a small smoothbore gun to carry in or on my bag loaded with shot specifically for aggressive or over bold snakes.

What was your overall opinion of the parts?

How did it end up shooting? I'm curious and concerned about how much oomph you can generate with that small of a barrel and gun.

I like the parts very much, very vell made :) Have only testfire the Derringer, but there is plenty of power in my cal 45 ;)
I think parts made in America is made with pride, the spagetti made is only for business :(

that's good to hear. Especially the part about the spaghetti, but I'm not sure how it relates. lol

What is the purpose of the brass plate ahead of the lock and under the breech? Is it purely decorative?
