Just a small 60 degree v-parting chisel with a slightly curved shaft. Made by Ramelson U.S.A. Bought a nice 6 piece woodcarvers set made by Ramelson which included a small sweep gouge, a small flat paring chisel, a small skew, a tiny u-gouge, and small flared fishtail chisel from Woodcraft. Their quality seems good. They hold their edge nicely.

It's sort of hard for me to process left handed rifles, but I think overall the carving has a nice look so far.  Looking good!

Well Tom.....I kinda skipped over that area for now. I wanted to attack the cheek carving while the creative juices were flowing, if ya know what I mean. I can only carve when the mood hits. (Which is why I'd never make a living at building longrifles.) The detailing chisels were calling my hand instead of the rasp. I WILL flatten out the wood more on both sides of the tang, but probably not as much as people on here are expecting. It's REALLY close to where I'M happy with it now, and remember, I'm not out to make an EXACT bench copy of a Moll, Kuntz, Neidhart, or whoever...  I am ever so greatful for the guidance though. :) Now I must go down to the basement and SMASH a flickering flourecent shop light!! ;D

I'll just say that if I could do that level of carving there wouldn't be a hat too big for my head. ;D

Didn't know Dave Keck had lefthanded leigh stocks. What is the model precarve called and what barrel are you using?

Rolf...when I bought the stock...last FEBRUARY...Dave didn't have a left handed version for a Lehigh profile. So he made me a left handed Bucks county blank. I re-shaped the stock considerably to get it close to the look of a Lehigh profile. He may have a left handed Lehigh pattern by now....I don't know. My barrel is a straight .45 caliber 13/16" across the flats made by Green Mountain. I took this barrel off of another rifle I had and used it for this build because A. I know the barrel shoots great. And B. I was on a limited budget to build a rifle at the time.

Surrounding wood now shaved away. gotta do some touch-up scraping here and there. She's soon ready for stain!
