Phil Quaglino Question
« on: September 17, 2012, 12:30:47 AM »
I have one of Phils guns, but read recently that he was also a barrel maker.  Can't seem to verify that report.  Anyone here remember Phil making barrels, back in the day?

I certainly do remember Phil Quaglino making barrels and
they shot well. I made a rolling block in caliber 40-90-420
with one and once I got the right bullet,it was a real combination
and it had a shotgun butt plate and double set triggers I made for it.
My now deceased friend,Bill Cooper made up a rolling block using one of Phil's
barrels in a 40-65 with a single set trigger I made for it and it shot even
better than my 40-90. Same thing with Randy Blevins and his 45-70.
I think Phil was living in Florida when he made those barrels.

Did Phil work with Hoppy Hopkins while in Florida?   I am not disputing the fact that he made some barrels, but, you don't
just go out and buy a lathe and a milling mcahine and then make a barrel.   It takes some sophisticated equipment to do
it.   I can recall making some barrels for Phil.  It seems to me that he got into something else in muzzleloading, my old
mind just can't pull it out right now..........Don
