G. Rummells Bedford Rifle
« on: September 21, 2012, 03:29:25 AM »
I recently purchased a G.Rummell Bedford rifle. It is an early Peter White circa 1803, with a 42" Green Mt. 50 caliber barrel, small Siler flintlock, exibition grade curly maple stock, raise carved, engraved brass patchbox, engraved sideplate, and toe plate and two engraved sterling silver inlays. Many of you may have seen pics of it in the items for sale part of this site.

I received it today.  :)

At first I didn't know if I should wear white gloves to move it to a glass display case or what. The rifle is that beautiful.

The fit and finish are superb, the craftsmanship is excellent. My vocabulary falls short in any attempt to describe how nice this rifle is.

It comes to shoulder with a very natural feel and is well balanced.

I would recommend Gary Rummell to ANYONE looking for a quality built, historically correct American longrifle.

Thanks again Gary, you are a true craftsman and a wealth of information !!   :)

She ain't Purdy but she shoots real good !

Ask and ye shall receive ;D (at least until G. Rummell pulls the photos down from Photobucket)

Ole Scout,
I am sure glad you bought that rifle, I had been drooling over it and was hoping someone one take the temptation away. I need to sell a couple of rifles rather than buy one!

Thanks Dennis.
I have drooled over many of the fine rifles up for sale since I found this site but was never in a position where I could buy one.
Now I know what all the hoopla's about !
I couldn't be more pleased with it.

On Friday morning I went to the range and sighted it in at 35 yards off a bench, no bags just elbows.
On a CMP B-19 target center I hit a 7 at about 6 o'clock with my first shot.  A 9 at 7 o'clock, a 9 at 2 o'clock cutting the 10 ring and 2 touching at about 6 o"clock in the X. It started raining so I left. I didn't even have to adjust the sights ! I used 70 grs. FFF Goex, .490 ball, .018 pillow ticking patch lubed with Hoppes #9 Plus, 4F in the pan.

I will post the target in the Blackpowder shooting section when I download it.

I think I'll keep her !  :)

There is surely something about a Bedford, and this one's surely got it! All that AND a shooter? Nice.
