LB - that is a tremendous offer.  Ron Kole and I were making plans to go oout and fall a big fir, and use his saw/mill to cut Daryl's planks.  I think he's going to need ten rather than five, and even then, there's going to be a line-up to make your shots.

So, how long is optimal, Steve?

I have to agree with the shotgun butt for use shooting prone.
Several long range shooters told me they reluctantly abandoned
their long range muzzle loaders in favor of the Sharps and other
single shot breech loaders because of age and joints (knees) were
being over worked by having to break position to get the muzzle
loader reloaded.

Yes - the offer of wood is wonderful, LB. My trailer only has a 6' box- however I can put some 3D animals in it if Taylor's 8' box would be better for the wood.  Of course, sticking out a couple feet wouldn't hurt.

   Give me plank lengths. ...and sawhorse dimensions. Lots of scrap wood where I work.Knock down sawhorses?

Yup- going to have to make some up with either folding legs, or wedge together would work. don't need to be real saw horses. The ones I have seem a bit high - we'll have to experiment, of course. I've a plank or two around here, of varying lengths. Hope the neighbours don't mind me aiming down the street - HA!  just kidding. We've a bunch of wood under the BP club house as well.

Anyone ever come up with a good plank length? I was thinking that a series of cleats attached to the underside of the plank might afford some degree of adjustability, raising and lowering the notched end to suit different sizes of shooters.

Now this game sounds like fun!  I didn't try Daryl's chunk shoot this year because my old whiplash injuries make prone shooting near impossible.  This looks right up my alley!  Count me in for next year Daryl!
