Re-boring/re-rifling a barrel

Is it practical financially to have a barrel re-bored to a larger caliber. I've got 7/8" X 46" straight barrel that is .36 caliber. It's an Ed Rayl barrel. If it was .45 or .50 caliber, the rifle I build would be lighter, handier and more versatile. I have had the barrel for several years and only have $50 into it.

Bob Hoyt charged me $85. shipped two years ago.   It was a 42"   .32 to .36 caliber.

If it's an unused bbl in good condition, it might be worth selling it and buying a new one.

If it's already in a rifle, tenoned, plugged, fitted, then it's probably worth re-boring.
