I have a S. Shuler cap & ball smooth bore long rifle that was carried by my great grandfather from PA West to Colorado. It is in rough condition: stock was repaired, tamping rod keepers and nipple missing and is rusted all over. It has a short walnut forestock with a pewter cap, steel butt plate and engraving on the lock.
Since it is a family heirloom, it is not for sale but would like to know approximate value for insurance purpose.
Additional Details:
Bore: 0.50"
Barrel length: 42-1/2"
Transition from octgon to round: 19"
Rear sight: 10-3/4" directly over pewter forearm cap
End sight: 40-1/2"
I took some pictures but need help in posting them to this message
