Typical Wm. Shreckengost barrel treatment
« on: December 11, 2012, 08:51:29 PM »
A few photographs showing the typical work found on a Wm. Shreckengost barrel from his work
between 1850 and 1890
Front sights invariably look like this: never seen one without the 4 round circles from the brass to
steel.

Frequently used barrel signature though on fancier guns usually the full name engraved.

A rushed tang engraving lacking finer elements found on others.

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

Great special features Rob! It is those little fine touches that add up to make the ordinary into extraordinary! I'll bet that barrel tang engraving looked much better before all the years of wear took some tole. Thank you for the pictures........Joel

Thanks guys.  Darn that signature is upside down.  My rushing leads to lack of attention to detail.
That's why I don't build longrifles.
