T/C Hawken .45 cal

Hey I just picked up what I was told was a T/C Hawken in .45 cal, but when I went to their website and even talked with their customer service people they didn't know they made the Hawken in .45.  I even gave them the serial number from the barrel and they weren't able to look it up.

My question: is the a Hawken or a Hawken stock with a Seneca barrel and would I just use the Hawken replacement parts?

I don't know the answer to your question. But now you have me wondering. I have two .45 TC Hawkens ,right hand and left. Been shooting deer with them a long time.

My brother and I both have .45 T/C Hawken (flintlocks) that we bought in the mid 70's. I'm not sure when they stopped offering the Hawken in .45.

TC made .45 and .50 cal hawkens, but probably phased out the .45 about 20 years ago.    There's a .45 Hawken on Gunbroker now, clearly showing pictures of the TC logo and the 45 cal stamped into the barrel.  I've seen web references to .45 Hawkens with serial numbers in the 8000 to 14000 range.

I'd bet TC hasn't changed the design of any of the lock or trigger assembly components ever.   Your .45 barrel (and corresponding barrel channel in the stock) is likely   15/16" across the flats which wouldn't interchange into a newer TC stock for a 1" across the flats barrel.

Thanks guys. There's nothing wrong with the gun, in fact it drives tacks. I was just trying to ensure I knew as much about my gun as possible. I was shocked when TC didn't even know though. I had a feeling that if they made one it was an older gun.

I have one that was a kit put together back in the 70's by my Grandfather.

i got one, with a low serial #. i bought it in 1973. the comb is higher then the newer ones

I bought one as a kit in 1980.  The hammer was different on it than what they made a few years later but I think the rest of the lock was the same. Barrel was 15/16 "

I believe T/C had a factory fire a number of years ago and that is when they quite making the Cherokee and Seneca.  Records were lost to.

Scary how institutional knowledge is such a perishable and fragile thing.

I have a couple of T/C .45 Hawkins.

S&W bought thompson Center a few years ago. I suspect the Smith people know nothing about the product.
