Recently re-finished pistol.

My attempt at making a silk purse out of a sows ear. Re-finished a lower quality 1733 French .62 caliber smoothbore flintlock pistol. It originally was a light tan in color with a shiny hard finish. I sanded down to bare wood (which happens to be teak of all things), hand painted fake curly maple stripping along the length of the stock, re-stained with LMF nut brown stain, rubbed in several coats of Chambers oil, and scruffed up the chrome-like shiny barrel surface, then de-greased and dabbed the whole barrel with good 'ol yeller mustard with my finger tip. The barrel now has a nice mottled damascus-like gray patina to it. Turned out better than I expected.
