Peter,
Nice job.  What buttplate casting did you use?

I think that the buttplate was my mistake. I build stock from blank. I made barrel channel and ramrod hole myself and I could use any buttplate. I used Jim Bridger Hawken from TOW.  I bought it because there was no proper SMR buttplate in stock. Of course about 2-3 weeks later there were in stock but I used what I bought. Now I know that it is too fat, the comb is too short and the toe is too narrow...

The buttplate is not of that much consequence. they were all hand forged on originals and varied anyway.  If you do not mind a constructive somment, you cheeckpiece comb area appears to need a little trimming.  You could cut back on both ends and up.  Otherwise for a first gun using a blank you did extremely well.

Well, you are right northmn. This area looks too fat especially at photo. In real it isn't so bad, but after first shooting I could consider little changes.

Nice clean lines. How does she shoot?

yes, I'd shoot it first to see how it feels -- I am familiar with an original one with a cheek piece similar to yours -- huge gun made of walnut
